How to properly load a paint roller

Ah, the humble paint roller. It’s the perfect tool for painting walls and ceilings. But a roller with too little paint can make for an exhausting experience. Too much paint, and it will leave tracks all over your walls. If you’re not getting quite the finish you expected, you might find the problem lies in how you load paint onto the roller. Fortunately, we’ve got it down to a science.

Before we begin

Naturally, you must start by investing in a quality paint roller. Monarch paint rollers deliver wonderful results and are readily available at your local Bunnings.

Now for the lesson. This step-by-step guide ought to keep things easy.

Step One

Pour some paint into the deepest section of the tray, till it’s one third full.

Step Two

Dip your roller into the well, and give it a proper soaking with a few rolls.

Step Three

Place the roller at the shallow top the tray, and lightly but firmly roll it over the ribbed centre of the tray. This ought to get rid of any excess paint.

And there you have it!

A perfectly loaded roller. Now, let’s get that project done right.
