How to Make a Small Space Look Bigger

Finding new and different techniques to make a small space appear larger can be a challenge.

Fear not, there are plenty of ways to give your home the feel of more space!

Keep it Simple

Go for fabrics and rugs in small prints or plain colours. Unified colours will visually expand a small room. Grey is a nice example of this, as it will blend with other décor and your wall colour without closing off the space.

Less is More

Use the rule ‘place it all out and then remove’, and avoid filling up every exposed shelf in a room. Leaving some empty space will give your small space an airy look, and will give off the impression of a larger room.

De-cluttering is a great go-to to make any room appear more spacious.

Pairing Shades

Paint your furniture in the same colour as your walls, that way it simply blends in and will widen your space, as well as give it a modern feel.

This technique is perfect for the bedroom, where you can use a concentrated amount of colour without feeling overwhelmed, as it’s a smaller space to begin with.

Shades

To create unity, use different shades of the same colour. This creates a visual coherence that makes the space feel open and inviting, perfect for the bedroom!
